Great lengths have been taken to keep the 11 herbs and spices recipe a secret. According to legend the Colonel even had two separate companies who only knew half the recipe each.
However it looks like it’s his own kin who’s let the cat out the bag. Joe Ledington, Sander’s nephew found a scrapbook belonging to his aunt and Sander’s second wife Claudia. Inside was a note that looks suspiciously like the right recipe.
The story was broken by the Chicago Tribune and after testing it they reckon it’s bang on. However Yum! Brands, the official holders of the recipe deny that it’s the right recipe. And Claudia passed away in 1997 so she can’t confirm the authenticity. Who knows, maybe Sander’s leaked false information and left red hearings for us to chase.
Here’s the recipe as written anyway.
