This is a slight off dry Pinot Rosé from the Central Otago wine region.
Using 100% Pinot Noir grapes, lightly pressed with the skins removed early to ensure the resulting wine doesn’t have the tannins and the colour you’d normally see in a Pinot Noir. Getting the colour right is a challenge and the result in this case is a pretty candy floss pink.
This wine is took out a gold medal in the recent Air New Zealand Wine Awards and is definitely a great example of an outstanding Central Otago Pinot Rosé Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: The wine is a charming light style Rosé displaying fresh strawberries, peaches and cream with a lovely floral lift, hints of passionfruit and watermelon, well supported by refreshing acidity and a bright, long finish.
Food match: Try this with lightly seared salmon or tuna salad or a salade Niçoise. Also great with tapenade or a blue Castello cheese. If you are really indulging, try it with a lobster thermidor.
