If your Instagram feed is anything like mine, you’re probably familiar with the fact that #fitspo is totally in right now. From bikini shots, to gym selfies, to body transformation photos, the world of social media is crawling with images of super fit women who look well, amazing. And while the fitness babes of Instagram look absolutely stunning and should be commended for their commitment to their health and fitness, more and more Instagram stars are starting to get real about the truth behind their Instagram images.
According to a number of Instagram fitness stars, the key to looking great is often working your angles and lighting. “I’ll be the first one to tell you pics are all about good lightening and angles,” wrote fitness blogger Iskra Lawrence on Instagram. “Always remember social media’s not real life…never let anyone else’s pics make you feel insecure about yourself. ”
Additionally, many fitness bloggers have come out admitting that some days their bodies look better than others. “Not every day am I rocking abs and feeling lean and awesome .. Hormones, bloat, water weight, food intolerances ibs, all result in days like this, which can last from 1 day to a week or longer,” Irish fitness star Maeve Madden wrote on Instagram.
So the moral of the story? No matter how great they look, Instagram fitness stars have bad angles and bad days too. “Yes, it’s great to show the highlight reel when we’ve achieved our goals or have mornings abs to flex, but it’s important to share the struggles too,” said fitness Instagram star, Workoutbean.
