I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, right about now it seems that almost every woman in Hollywood is expecting a baby. While we love the maternity style and can’t help but get behind the baby name guessing games, you really can’t beat that moment when bubba is finally born. Making our week in a big way, we are more than a little excited to announce that the goddess herself, Natalie Portman has finally given birth to baby #2.
According to E! News, the Jackie star gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on February 22, however news of the birth has only recently been released. According to reports, Portman and husband Benjamin Millepied have named their sweet baby girl Amalia.
A less common name, Amalia is often thought to be a variation of the more common English name Emily and it is often attributed to mean ‘eager’. Baby Amalia will take her father’s surname, carrying on the Millepied legacy alongside her brother Aleph.
The couple did well at keeping the birth under wraps until they were ready to go public, with Portman even skipping the Oscars last week. The star who maintains a low-key profile and doesn’t even use social media, apologised for not being able to attend ‘due to pregnancy’. Of course we now know that her absence was due to the birth of Amalia.
Portman was nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of late First Lady Jackie Kennedy in Jackie. “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends,” Portman said in regards to the Oscars.
During her pregnancy Portman stunned with her maternity style, turning heads at the Golden Globes wearing a beautiful yellow dress and earlier, making headlines with her black form-fitting maternity dress at the 20th Annual Hollywood Film Awards.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
