I love hummus as much as the next girl. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that I am a major hummus fan of epic proportions – aka hummus is LIFE.
But I am slightly put off by what is happening in the hummus world right now.
Thanks to an American company called Delighted by Dessert Hummus, your favourite dip is no longer just a delicious savoury snack, but has officially entered the dessert world.
While the base of the dessert hummus is made from traditional ingredients such as chickpeas, tahini and salt, extra ingredients are added to create sweet hummus flavours such as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Brownie Batter, Orange Ginger and Snickerdoodle.
The unusual dessert was created by holistic nutritionist Makenize Marzluff who wanted to come up with a healthy dessert option that could be enjoyed without guilt.
Surprisingly, Delish taste-testers concluded that the dessert hummus actually wasn’t too bad at all.
“All four varieties of hummus taste surprisingly close to the actual dessert they mimic, though the texture is a little grittier than the typical brownie batter or cookie dough,” they wrote.
Yeah… I’m not convinced.

If all of this wasn’t enough for you, did I mention the tagline of the product? – “Delighted by Hummus, delighted by life.”
What is the world coming to?
Okay, I’m done.
