This Genius Breakfast Prep Hack Is Exactly What You Need To Help You Get In Shape For Summer

If you’re trying to get in shape for summer, or even just looking to save money on buying so much damn takeaway food, meal prep is key.

While many of us are champs at prepping our lunches (3kg of roast vege quinoa salad anyone?), many of us fail big time when it comes to prepping our breakfast in advance. If you’re serious about avoiding the temptation to just grab a muffin or bagel on your way to work, this genius breakfast prep hack is all you need.

Introducing overnight oats in a jar – simple, tasty, perfect for eating on the go, and only 286 calories per serving! We already know that oats are the secret to getting great skin, but they will also keep you fuller for longer than many other breakfast foods, making them the perfect breakfast for anybody who is looking to start their day well.

Basically, all you need to do is get yourself five small  mason jars and prepare your oat mixture on Sunday night. Make the mixture in bulk and there you have it – breakfast is ready for the whole week. Goodbye burnt toast, hello delicious and nutritious breakfasts.

If you’re looking for a little something extra with your oats, you can heat your daily serving each morning or add some fresh fruit such as blueberries, sliced banana, or chopped apple each morning.

INGREDIENTS

2 1/2 cups rolled oats
5 teaspoons chia seeds
2 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
5 teaspoons maple syrup
5 tablespoon raisins
5 tablespoons sliced almonds
2 1/2 cups soy or almond milk (save for the night before)

DIRECTIONS

1. Set up your 5 empty mason jars.

2. Divide all the ingredients except for the milk between the 5 jars. Each jar will have: 1/2 cup oats, 1 teaspoon chia seeds, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 teaspoon maple syrup, 1 tablespoon raisins, and 1 tablespoon sliced almonds.

3. Screw on the lids securely and store in the fridge.

4. Each night before bed, add half a cup of soy or almond milk to your jar, and refrigerate.

5. In the morning, give it a good stir, top with sliced fruit of your choice, and enjoy!
