The countdown to Mother’s Day is on! Whether you’re a mother yourself, planning to spend the day with your own mum, or you’re spending time with the whole family group, there are lots of good outings you can go on around Auckland.
If you’re taking your mum out for the day and want something you can both enjoy then have a look at these ideas that would be perfect for a mother-daughter outing!
One Mother’s Day idea that you’ll both always remember is getting to see the stars and planets. The Stardome is offering free tickers to all Mums this Sunday.
Walk an art trail
There are heaps of different art trails around Auckland. The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail in Matakana is a particularly nice one and a pretty day trip drive to get there. You can also pack a picnic or go to the tasty cafe they have on site. Art trails give you time to enjoy each others company, chill out, and enjoy the scenery together.
See a movie at the Rialto
The Rialto in Newmarket is great if you want to see an independent movie or a movie that isn’t your ordinary blockbuster. They have a great selection of movies to see plus they make a great coffee.
Sit Down for some tea
The West Lynn Gardens in New Lynn are hosting a Mother’s Day tea this Sunday. Enjoy some tea, look at the butterfly house, and explore the gardens. And of course, there will be scones.
Check out the markets
There’s a lot of little farmers markets and night markets all around Auckland that you and your mum can enjoy together. Have a look around, buy some fresh produce, and eat some tasty food. The Clevedon Farmers Market is one of our favourites. Super cute!
Visit the art gallery
The Auckland Art Gallery is always a fantastic option for a day out. Entry is free and there’s so many beautiful pieces of art to look at. Currently they have ‘The Body Laid Bare’ as one of their exhibitions, featuring artwork from The Tate London. With Picassos, Matisses, and many more you don’t want to miss out on this one.
Relax at a day spa
Why not treat your mum and yourself to a day of pampering? There are so many beauty therapies and day spas to choose from all across Auckland. Ikoi Spa in Takapuna offers traditional Japanese treatments if you’re looking for a spa day with a difference.
