There’s a new wedding dress trend coined as “the sexy bride look” by The New York Times and it’s not for the faint of heart: “a growing number of wedding dresses have taken on a distinctly Mediterranean flavour: low backs that skim the derrière, deep navel-revealing necklines and a shocking amount of sheer fabric.”
Mark Ingram, the owner of an influential bridal atelier in Manhattan has added Israeli designers Inbal Dror, Alon Livne and Mira Zwillinger to his lineup. Following the evening-wear trends led by celebrities, Ingram says that “Bridal has become a red carpet moment, and the gowns reveal so much more.”
This bridal aesthetic is prominent in some Lebanese evening-wear designers such as Zuhair Murad and Elie Saab. He adds that classic American designers like Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta have been slower and more resistant to follow this trend.
