Aaradhna Stopped Everyone In Their Tracks Last Night By Calling Out The Music Industry For Racism

Last night at the Music Awards Aaradhna highlighted racism in the music industry and everyone is applauding her decision.

The singer was called to the stage to accept her Tui for the best urban/hip-hop artist, but instead she hit out at the category suggesting it is just for ‘brown people’.

“This song is ‘Brown Girl’, and it speaks so many things. It speaks racism, and being placed in a box… I feel like if I was to accept this, I feel like I’m not being truthful in my song.

I feel like if you’re putting a singer next to a hip-hop artist, it’s not fair. I’m a singer, I’m not a rapper, I’m not a hip-hop artist.

It feels like I’ve been placed in the category of brown people. That’s what it feels like.”

She then called upon SWIDT, a group she believes are hip-hop artists.

“I believe that you guys are the future of hip-hop, if you guys keep going. I want to give this to you guys.”

Aaradhna suggested that the awards should also include a soul/RnB category, something Twitter was all for.

Aaradhna also took home Best Female Solo Artist.
