Last night at the Auckland Hilton’s Bellini Bar, invited guests celebrated the M2 Champagne Bollinger Man Of The Year 2016 and M2woman Champagne Bollinger Woman Of The Year 2016.
The night recognised two individuals who are proving that you can achieve whatever you set your mind to, on the track or on world stages.
The M2woman Champagne Bollinger Woman of the Year 2016 was singer/songwriter, and one half of Broods, Georgia Nott.
While Georgia was unavailable to attend the night due to the fact Broods is taking on LA, she sent a video message thanking everyone for the opportunity and support.
“I am very lucky to have been raised by very strong, inspiring women and very encouraging men, and I have always tried to be somebody that other young women can look up to.”
“When I was a child, thinking about my career and where I wanted to go with it, I never dreamed that I’d be able to connect and touch so many other people through singing and songwriting.”
Not only is Georgia connecting with so many world wide through music, herself and brother Caleb are keeping true to their roots. The duo have been also been nominated for five awards at the upcoming Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards. When we spoke to Georgia after the nominations she said it is pretty surreal. “I think for us last year was one of the most amazing nights ever for being noticed how hard we have been working since we have been kids in our music and our writing and to have that be honoured and noticed by the rest of New Zealand is pretty hard to wrap your head around.”
Broods also recently took home the Best New Zealand Act award at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Living in LA keeps Georgia busy, but that doesn’t mean she won’t be home this Christmas enjoying the New Zealand summer and some family time – while squeezing in a few concerts for us all to enjoy.
Previous winners of the M2woman Woman of the Year have been Eleanor Catton and Sophie Pascoe.
