Imagine closing your eyes and falling asleep to the sound of the king of the jungle purring just far enough away in the jungle that you feel content to sleep. Nearby are the galloping hooves of the Zebra, heading to the watering hole to quench their thirst. Next to you is your tour guide, fast asleep as to him these sounds are like the droning cars on the motorway that you are more accustomed to. It sounds pretty dreamy right. While I am just imagining this is what it is like, I’ve painted a pretty picture and now you are certain to want to add an African safari to your bucket list.
This all started recently when I was asked by a colleague one of the top places on my bucket list and without any hesitation I said Africa, the home to the beasts of our dreams and safari’s that get you up close and personal with things that are so often seen through glass and wire.
If you are unconvinced that you need to add Africa and a safari to your bucket list, let me unveil three of my convincing reasons.
1. It is ridiculously picture perfect.
I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
With a reputation for offering Zambia’s finest guided walking safaris, the Luangwa River Valley overflows with stories of crack-shot rangers and great herds of elephants – kept alive around bush campfires and retold today around the elegant dining table at Chinzombo safari lodge.
