Are you stuck? Are you finding life just isn’t dishing out the rewards you hoped it would be at this point? Don’t worry, everyone goes through the same sort of motions. Whether it’s getting a shoddy mark back from a paper you thought you aced to not getting the promotion you were expecting, or even just a string of red lights that make you late for work. It all stacks up, doesn’t it?
Well, not to worry! We’ve found 10 tips to help you structure your life and get you to those lofty goals.
1. Make meaning
Do what you love and love what you do, and never work a day in your life. Search for a way to live with passion. Figure out the most distilled thing you live for; it might be ‘cooking’, or ‘gardening’, or ‘cars’, anything. Take your long mission statement and drop it right down to 5 words or less, and see what it ends up as. Being specific helps give you direction.
2. Have a good vision
Having a vision that really inspires you can bolster your motivation. It must be clear and have an ability to transform into reality. Make it ‘hot’. This gives it that enthusiasm that has you constantly wanting to put more hours into it. This is never a bad thing!
3. Figure out milestones
Milestones are long-term goals . They’re the big things you want to happen in your journey. Normally there would be only a few of these in a laid-out plan, but remember plans can change. If you don’t like where you’re headed, don’t be afraid to switch things up. Hitting a milestone is a good sign you’re heading in the right direction, and if you can manage it while still feeling like you’re only playing to your heart’s desire, even better!
4. Set goals
Goals are the stepping stones to milestones. They’re small, attainable tasks that will keep you on the right track to getting what you want. Even if they’re just along the lines of, ‘don’t be late at all this week.’ You have to start somewhere, right? Don’t be discouraged if that’s were you start!
5. Take action
The only difference between your average Joe and a successful Joe is effort. Taking that first step and keeping the momentum going will make huge amounts of difference. Don’t forget to be flexible to change.
6. Be optimistic
Being positive and confident over your own media network will attract positive results. Think of it like this – you always attract energy that you project. So, it pays to be positive as much as possible!
7. Act with confidence
Acting as if you will never fail is also a great way to attract new opportunities, possibilities and success to your life. Keep your vision in your mind’s eye at all times, and you will naturally find the easiest path to attaining it.
8. Avoid negative people, to an extent
Try to avoid negative people. Don’t assume every piece of critical advice is negative though, as this could end up meaning you disregard advice that may be a key to a problem. But the people that just try and beat you down and tell you “you can’t,” without offering any actual advice, don’t listen to them.
9. Face your fears
Developing confidence and trust in yourself will lead to you to overcome any obstacles that may arise. Fear only stops you from getting what you want. Learning to combat it will allow you to truly flourish. Don’t put off that client interview in case they say no, take a breath and dive in! The worst that can happen is you move on to the next meeting and know what not to do.
10. Create a good team
Find people who share your goals and milestones and work with them to achieve greatness. Your partner is your first port of call here; run things by them to see what they think. As in point 8 though, if they say they think it’s not the smartest, maybe think of another way around it. They’re your partner – they don’t want to see you fail. They only have your best interests at heart. You can also surround yourself with people who are smarter and more experienced than you – what better way to learn?
