It’s been a long time between Cosmos but the former Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker is finally set to return to the small screen.
While this is great news for SJP fans, she’s not about to reprise her role as Carrie anytime soon. In the new HBO drama Divorce, Parker will play the lead character Frances, a woman beginning again at the end of her marriage.
You could be forgiven for thinking this new show might well be following in the footsteps of S&TC, but its writer and creator Catastrophe star Sharon Horgan told Vogue.com that the show is much more than “just Sex and the City nostalgia.”
She said Divorce was something she’d been working on for years. It was, she said an “oddly logical next step as well, writing about marriage and writing about the breakdown of one. It just felt like they were completely different characters and completely different circumstances.”
The first teaser trailer of the new show has been shared on Sarah Jessica Parker’s Instagram account.
She tagged the post with this comment: “It’s been a long time coming. And a great thrill that my friends @hbo allowed me to share with you the official FIRST look and just a wee appetiser of #DivorceonHBO.
The new show is set to make its debut in September of this year.
