Like many couples, Ellie Parker and Lucy Stenger celebrated Valentine’s Day with a romantic meal at a restaurant. However unlike everyone else their meal was ruined by the chef.
The two went to Asashi Japanese Steakhouse in Lafayette, Indiana, where the hibachi chef greeted each customer by asking them their relationship status.
When the two ladies told the chef they were each others Valentines he did not seem pleased.
“He proceeds to say ‘well it is legal, but it’s such a waste to not have a man.’ Later he continues to insult our relationship by saying he could come home with us to ‘heat things up,’” Ellie said on her Facebook page.
Ellie and Lucy were appalled at receiving this kind of treatment and said “I cannot believe I paid over $50 to have my relationship insulted and sexualized.”
However, the couple got their own back when it came to giving the chef his tip. They gave him something more valuable than money, sharing with him a top tip – “Don’t tell lesbians they need a man on Valentine’s Day”
The restaurant apologised to the couple and agreed to give them a refund, if they deleted the post which has racked up over 7000 shares. The post is still up, so it seems the couple are less worried about the money and more worried about spreading the message that love it love. Good on them!
