Their 2014 Sauvignon Blanc was created from single vineyard grapes grown in their Johnson’s Vineyards. Normally I’d recommend a Sauvignon Blanc as a summer wine but this is one that can be enjoyed all year round. It has five star appraisal from the leading critics. With hand-picked Bordeaux clone fruits, slow pressed and fermenting in various wood barrels, this wine is a real sensation. It is not common to find a bold Sav like this with a big oaky finish.
An elegant nose and razor sharp acidity leads to a dry crisp, lengthy finish. Hints of lime, nectarines and nutty notes. Smokey elements come through from the oak fermentation. Elegant, but not too austere, this is a Sauvignon Blanc that, while great to drink now, will also cellar well. Serve this one with herb marinated seafood and you won’t be disappointed.
