Tarzan is strong, he swings from the trees and beats his chest – all while saving Jane, the damsel in distress.
Thankfully, David Yates has taken a different approach on the original tale and has given Jane a fiesty side.
Of course, who better to cast as the fiesty Jane than Margot Robbie. The stunning and equally as tough Australian actress.
“It was very important that we didn’t want it to feel archaic or dated, where it’s like, tough guy has to save the poor girl,”Alex Skarsgård told Entertainment Weekly.
“You have to feel that she’s strong and independent, and when you cast Margot, you’ll definitely get that.”
Margot is incredibly strong it seems, seeing as she left Alex bruised after she punched him in the face during a steamy sex scene.
“They’re doing this love scene together, and I said [to Robbie], ‘Just slap Alex while you’re making love, just kind of give him a punch,’” Yates said. “It was sort of an earthy, sensual moment of her enjoying sex with Alex, and the only bruise he picked up during the entire shoot was probably that punch from Margot. Which says a lot about her feistiness.”
The film is out June 30th and we are incredibly excited!
