I am constantly amazed by this relatively small winery, they are always winning awards and 5 Star appraisal that places them head and shoulders above most wineries their size. Tim Preston and Paul Dawick, the wine makers, have their fingers firmly on the pulse with hit after hit coming out of their Hawkes Bay vineyards. Winning so many awards and accolades is of little wonder when you look at the standards they are setting with wines like the Mills Reef Elspeth Chardonnay 2014.
This is an outstanding Chardonnay from their Hawkes Bay Gimblett Gravel vineyard. The wine has striking intensity, complexity and balance. It bursts with tropical peach and cashew notes, with an influence of wild yeast character, complemented with a judicious seasoning of toasty oak, and a creamy texture. Already delicious, it will continue to evolve and delight with cellaring.
This is such a nice wine, I would drink it with any food. With or without anything, you’ll love it.
