While you can get lollies that taste like grapes… sort of. It’s a little harder to get grapes that taste like lollies… Until now.
Cotton Candy grapes by Grapery is a guilt free, all natural, sustainably grown grape that has been produced via hand pollination of the combination of two grape species.
It sounds too good to be true, but believe it – you can buy them in the supermarkets in the US. Jim Beagle, Grapery’s CEO, revealed that this sweet treat was a happy accident. “We weren’t trying to make a grape that tastes like cotton candy, we were trying to make a good grape. We just picked really flavorful parents.”
Rather than modifying its genes to produce new grapes, Grapery employed a cross breeding program to create grapes that are sweeter, seedless and have the right thickness of skin. He said, “It takes millions of crosses [to find a good grape] and you fail far more often than you succeed. It’s a slow process.”
Apart from the Cotton Candy grapes, Grapery have a variety of other grapes that form the new generation of delicious, lolly tasting grapes that come in bizarre shapes.
