Her credentials and achievements are impressive to say the least - Olympic silver medalist, environmental activist, Women’s Sports Foundation supporter, model,writer, designer…these are just a few of the many hats Gretchen Bleiler wears every day. She discovered her passion for snowboarding at 11 years old, took a risk in her late teens to pursue the dream of becoming a professional snowboarder and has since become one of the most popular riders of the last decade.
Her combination of raw talent with girl next-door likeability has afforded Gretchen unprecedented success and exposure within the sports community and mainstream media. Rather than bask in the glory or rest on her laurels however, Gretchen has used her success as a platform to bring awareness to other causes she is passionate about. Her latest initiative is a second round of the 21 Day Reusable Challenge. From Jan. 11 through Feb. 1 she has challenged the Winter X (WX) Games community to kick the plastic habit in exchange for reusable alternatives.
Heading into WX 15 Gretchen has her sights set on breaking her own World Record with a fifth Women’s Superpipe Gold Medal.
