SERIOUSLY, WOULD YOU FLY INTO THIS?
Chile, one of the world's most volcanic countries...
Chile, one of the world's most volcanic countries, has more than 3,000 volcanoes, of which about 80 are active. As night fell, lightning sizzled through the huge ash cloud.
When Chile's Puyehue Volcano began to erupt over the weekend, the activity was dramatic and picturesque. Masses of ash cloud was pushed across the Andes covering areas of neighbouring Argentina.
The eruption also produced a column of gas eight kilometres high -- and some breath-takingly beautiful sky scene.
It was the first time Puyehue Volcano had erupted in 50 years and the government ordered thousands of residents to leave the area.
