SIMON DUMONT FREE-SKIING
Undoubtedly one of the biggest names in free skiing...
SIMON DUMONT was born July 9, 1986 in Bethel in the state of Maine.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest names in freeskiing, Simon began to make a name for himself at the age of 15. Just two years later he won his first Winter X Games gold medals and he has been a force to be reckoned with ever since. However, a career wrought with such competitive prowess has not come without its obstacles. Simon has suffered shattered ankles, a broken pelvis and collar bone and ruptured spleen among countless other injuries over the course of his professional career, yet nothing can seem to keep him off his skis for long or scare him into taking it easy.
In 2008, Simon set the current world quarterpipe height record airing 35.5 feet out of a 38-foot quarterpipe while performing a 900 tail grab. Needless to say, Simon likes to go big.
His skill in the park is matched in the backcountry and even on the racetrack (Simon participated in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup season opening race at Virginia International
Raceway in 2009). Simon has a natural ability and style that will continue to inspire the sport of freeskiing for years to come.
“The hardest thing about my sport is keeping up with everyone else after an injury.” – Simon Dumont
