The 9th Annual 2011 Burton New Zealand Open wrapped up with Ryo Aono (JPN) and Kelly Clark (USA) winning the exciting halfpipe competition. Also claiming top spots on the podium at this year’s event were Mark McMorris (CAN) and Jamie Anderson (USA), who won the challenging slopestyle competition. All winners took home NZ$7,000 for their impressive final performances.
A field of 56 men and 25 women battled it out for just 10 and 5 spots, respectively. The course, custom-built and in in pristine condition, started with the Burton bonk tank, then moved into two rail features- a flat down box and a down flat down rail. Following that was the custom-made MINI Creative Use of Space feature, a cannon rail to gap jump. Finishing up the course was the double jump line measuring in at 45-feet and 55-feet.
