Take Cooking Classes in Zero Gravity

It’s always intriguing to see how astronauts go about daily life, and cooking is no exception. While tubes of moosh are commonly thought of as the staple diet of our intrepid explorers, that’s not always the case. Good food that adds a bit of variety is good for a persons psychological well-being, just try having the same bag of noodles every day for lunch and you’ll know what I mean.

ESA astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti is currently on board the International Space Station for her mission Futura. For the duration of her stay on-board she’s allowed a certain amount of “bonus food” of her choice that helps remind her of what she’d normally eat at home.

In this video she prepares one of her dishes in microgravity for us: whole red rice with peas and chicken turmeric.
