Despite her every move being documented by the paparazzi, Kylie Jenner has remained very secretive about her personal life. Even in Interview’s December story, she managed to dance around the questions and not really answer anything about her private life.
In Paper’s #YOUth cover story, she delves into the biggest misconceptions about her and dealing with online bullying.
The Paper cover image, with her augmented lips and eyes, alludes to the massive speculation and criticism towards Jenner as a plastic being, “probably that I’m just super fake and that at 16/17, I got my full face reconstructed and that I only care about materialistic things.” However, her lips were what instigated the nude lip beauty trend and brought her cosmetic line’s immense popularity. “I think it all started with my lips when I would overline them. I didn’t see one other girl wearing nude lipstick—I didn’t even care about the lipstick, I just wanted my lips to be bigger—and then I started seeing a bunch of girls wearing nude lipstick. I was going to M.A.C and Sephora and I’d try to buy my lipstick and the girls working there would be like, ‘Kylie, everyone comes in asking what color you use. Everything’s sold out—I’m sorry!’ They were like, ‘These people should be paying you! Everyone comes in and asks for your color.’ And then the Kylie Jenner makeup tutorials started coming and it became a big thing. I feel like that’s when I really realized.”
18-year-old Kylie talks about her fantasies of adulthood, “Business-wise, I would love to have a really successful cosmetic line and then family/personal-wise, I’d like to have a really big family and a farm.” But her ultimate fantasy is something that her business model doesn’t work with. The Kardashian and Jenners capitalize on fame and social media. However, when she talks about her ultimate fantasy, she says, “I daydream about when I can get to a place in my life where I can be off the radar.”
When asked about having children she said, “I don’t want to start [having] a baby when I’m 30! I don’t believe in after 30—I don’t know,” she responded when Paper asked her about that time she said having her first kid after 30 is “too late.” Referring to her sisters, Kylie said, “But they all wanted to have kids before. Kim was like, ‘I better have two kids before 30.’ She always said that.”
She also talked about her #IAmMoreThan project where she brings to the limelight girls who have overcome a major life event. “Growing up and being a young teen socialite comes with a lot of negativity and a lot of mean comments and online bullying and I turn to these people who have real issues and have overcome bullying and done something amazing with it and they really inspire me. They make me feel like, ‘Oh wow, they’re going through something much bigger than I could ever imagine.’ It’s just amazing how they stay positive and I wanted to share that with my fans and followers.”
