We have all seen it ─ talented female celebrities who have gifted the world with an amazing body of work, only to have interviewer after interviewer ask the all-important question, “How long did you take to get ready today?”.
Scarlett Johansson is, of course, not excused from such irrelevance ─ in an interview about the first Avengers movie, she asked why Robert Downey Jr. is always asked the philosophical, deep questions about his role while she gets “Rabbit food” questions. So this time, for the new Avengers movie, Cosmopolitan decided to turn the tables in an interview with Scar Jo and her co-star Mark Ruffalo.
Instead of asking her what she planned to wear for the premiere, she was asked about her character and how she trained and got ready to take on her role as the Black Widow. Ruffalo, on the other hand, was asked to share his red carpet poses and routine for taking off his stage makeup. The interview, as a result, was a fun-filled and refreshing change from the norm, at the same time speaking volumes about the gender stereotypes at play not only in Hollywood, but at any workplace ─ why aren’t women asked more about their work and professions than they are asked about where they get their work outfits from?
