This Totally Colourblind Man can “Hear” Colour with Tech Built Into His Head

We’ve come to learn that when you’re colourblind you aren’t usually completely colourblind. But in the case of Neil Harbisson the world was nothing but a monochrome Instagram filter.

After convincing his doctors to implant an antenna into the back of his head, Neil now possesses a new sense – the ability to hear colors. This has offered him some insights into the world that we would never consider.

“I used to think humans were black and white, and since I’ve heard colour I’ve detected that that is completely wrong… Actually we are all sharing exactly the same hue.”

“People say cities are grey and this make me realise that people might be colourblind because cities are not grey. There is no grey in cities, It’s almost impossible to find grey in cities. If they look closer they will see it is not grey… There is always colour.”
