This Spot Has Been Named The Most Beautiful Beach In The World

If there’s one thing that Kiwis know a thing or two about, it has to be a good beach. From Northland, to Coromandel and all the way down to the depths of the south, we have more than a few beaches to be proud of. But have you ever wondered what the best beach in the whole world actually is?

TripAdvisor has rounded up data from international travellers everywhere and has named Baia do Sancho in Brazil, as the best beach in the world today. So what makes this particular beach so special?

As you walk through a small trail, you can’t imagine what awaits you. The heavenly view seems like a mirage,” one TripAdvisor review read.

“More than the beauty of the site, it is the fact that the island is super protected and the number of tourists limited to approx. 500 a day on the whole island. This makes your visit on that beach feel like a Robinson Crusoe,” another reviewer noted.

Famous for its dramatic cliffs, turquoise waters and secluded location, Baia do Sancho is a popular destination for surfers and snorkelers alike as it has great waves and is also teeming with great sea life underneath the surface.

This is not the first time Baia do Sancho has risen to the top, with the 2017 award marking its third time winning the hotly contested title. After being momentarily knocked off its perch in 2016 by Grace Bay in Turks and Caicos last year, the Brazilian beach on the Fernando de Noronha archipelago, a Unesco World Heritage Site, Baia do Sancho has reclaimed the title for 2017.

Here are the top 10 beaches in the world for 2017, according to TripAdvisor.
