The #1 Healthy Food That This Nutritionist Eats Every Day

Ask any working person what gets them through the day and they will probably mention one thing; food. From delicious snacks, to a satisfying lunch, to that afternoon trip to the dairy to get some chocolate, food has an amazing ability to keep us motivated throughout the workday.

If you want to improve your health in 2017 or perhaps even lose weight, watching what you eat during your workday is key. Recently, Women’s Health spoke with Tanya Halliday, Ph.D., registered dietitian and Halliday revealed the one food that she eats every single day. Apparently, hard boiled eggs are a real winner for a number of reasons.

“They’re a low-calorie source of high-quality protein that keeps me full when I’m on the run,” Halliday said. Containing almost 6.5 grams of protein and only 78 calories, eggs are a low-calorie way to fill up. Rich in vitamin A and B, eggs also offer a whole lot of nutritional value in one small serving.

Halliday explained that she often preps her boiled eggs in advance to eat during the week, making them perfect for when she is on the run. “I’ll boil a batch of eggs on the weekend and portion them out in twos or threes in small containers so I can have them on hand during the workweek for a snack or as part of a balanced breakfast,” she said.

The only thing to be weary of with boiled eggs is their level of cholesterol. One boiled egg contains 186 milligrams of cholesterol and because of this it is often recommended that you do not eat more than two boiled eggs per day. However, eaten in moderation eggs are the perfect workday snack or easy lunch.

Try eating boiled eggs by themselves as a snack or slice them up to have in salads or on whole grain toast for a healthy and easy lunch.
