These Are The Least Stressful Jobs Of 2017

We all know what it’s like to be under an immense amount of pressure at work and allow stress to get the better of us. It’s one thing to have a couple of busy and stressful days every once in a while, but long-term and consistent stress may be doing you more harm than may think.  In fact, workplace stress has become such a serious issue that it is impacting our health and lives in a number of ways.

In a recent Huffington Post article, founder Arianna Huffington raised the issue of workplace ‘burnout’, explaining that stress and over-working is increasingly becoming an issue in Western society. “The CDC estimates that 75 percent of all health care spending is on chronic illnesses like these that can be prevented,” Huffington wrote. “According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, two-thirds of visits to the doctor’s office are for stress-related conditions.”

Studies have shown that high levels of workplace stress can lead to a number of illnesses, including high blood pressure, sexual dysfunction, chronic fatigue and even cancer. According to Very Well, stress is also commonly associated with emotional disorders “such as anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances.”

Aware that a growing number of people are looking for less stressful career options, Career Cast has compiled their annual list of the least stressful jobs and the results could be worth paying attention to. The study looked at 11 different factors to judge the stress levels of each job, weighing up how well it performed in the following categories:

• Travel
• Career Growth Potential
• Physical Demands
• Environmental Conditions
• Hazards Encountered
• Meeting the Public
• Competition
• Risk of Death or Grievous Injury
• Immediate Risk of Another’s Life
• Deadlines
• Working in the Public Eye

“A job with little-to-no travel, promising growth opportunities, no immediate urgency or risk of death or severe harm, and relative anonymity from the public eye scores as less stressful,” the results read.
