If you named you baby Sophia, Emma, Jackson or Aiden this year, congratulations, your baby is officially the trendiest kid out. BabyCenter has just released their annual list of the most popular baby names of 2016 and for the fourth year in a row, Sophia and Jackson have topped the list as the most popular baby names of the year, closely followed by Emma and Aiden.
For girls, other popular names included Olivia, Ava, Mia and Isabella, while names like Lucas, Liam and Noah topped the list for the boys.
To compile their list, BabyCenter surveyed 400,000 parents who had a baby in 2016. Unlike a lot of other lists, this collection combined spelling so when the list says that ‘Jackson’ and ‘Sophia’ were popular, that also means that alternative spellings like ‘Jaxon’ and ‘Sofia’ were also included in there.
