Want to make it in Hollywood? Rebel Wilson says that gaining weight will help

Move over super-skinny celebs, because our favourite Hollywood funny-girl has reveled that gaining weight actually helped her to make it big in Hollywood.

While many people believe that actors have to be stick-thin to really make it in Hollywood, Wilson swears that having a fuller figure has set her apart from the crowd.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Wilson explained that when she wrote her first play she cast a heavier actress to perform alongside her, but soon found that the audience liked her co-star more than her.

When trying to figure out why the audience found the other actor funnier, Wilson reached one life-defining conclusion.

“I remember distinctly thinking: ‘I think it’s because she’s fatter,'” said Wilson.

“I don’t know if it was mega-conscious, but I thought: ‘How can I get more laughs? Maybe if I was a bit fatter.’ And then suddenly, I was fatter and doing comedy.”

While Wilson has always been a body-positive advocate who has often made fun of Hollywood’s skinny-obsession, Wilson is now surer than ever that her size has helped her to get ahead in one of the most competitive industries in the world.

“There’s something about me that people like laughing at,” said Wilson.

“I saw my size as being an advantage whereas so many women see it as a disadvantage.”

While it is clear that Wilson’s success is mainly due to her talent, our favourite curvy gal is proving that being different and truly being yourself is always an advantage, no matter what industry you are in.
