Wine Review: Peter Yealands RESERVE CHARDONNAY HAWKE’S BAY 2014

Peter Yealands is an interesting brand. Having planted their first vines in the Marlborough less than a decade ago, this brand has grown to be one of the largest producers of Sauvignon Blanc in the country and one of the largest wineries too. World leaders in sustainable winegrowing, Yealands is still partly owned by Peter Yealand and, with an unlikely partnership of the Marlborough lines company, they continue to reach new heights.  The reserve range represents the very best from our Peter Yealands, and they have chosen Hawkes Bay to grow their Reserve Chardonnay, and the outcome is very palatable.  An exceptional growing season in Hawkes Bay for the 2014 vintage has created a wine with toasty savoury characters which are perfectly balanced with ripe tropical notes. The palate is supple and textured combining ripe stone fruit, and integrated toasty oak with a long, elegant finish. Food Match: Grilled crayfish and scallop dishes. Dietary Information: Suitable for vegetarians and gluten free diets.
