We’ve all grown up surrounded by Disney princesses. Whether it be Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine or Cinderella they played a big part in our younger lives. They still do today with little girls everywhere knowing all the lyrics to the songs from Frozen and movies like Moana coming out.
Over the years these princesses have become strong role models for a lot of children. We’ve seen a shift from Princesses being saved by men to more self sufficient women. Now Disney has launched a new campaign to remind all of us there are strong female role models in the real world too.
From here the “Dream Big Princess” idea began. The project showcases women and girls from around the world who are breaking boundaries in their communities. And even for adults, it’s actually very inspiring.
Disney enlisted the help of 19 female photographers from all over the world to capture portraits. The results of this were awesome and inspiring.
The women and girls involved in the project range from all sorts of areas including an aspiring Paralympian, a women who writes books about coding, and various athletes.
If you go to the #dreambigprincess hashtag on Instagram you can view an array of talented ladies from all around the globe.
How you can help:
This project was created in a partnership with “Girl up”. This is a United Nations Foundation project. It aims to help young girls with leadership and empowerment.
