This may just be what dreams are made of and it’s seriously making me wish I lived in Wellington. Two of everyone’s favourite things are being combined- coffee and cats. Not only cats but adoptable cats at New Zealand’s first cat adoption cafe.
Well soon this may just be on offer thanks to Neko Ngeru a cat adoption cafe opening in Petone. The idea will be to find a space that will have room for 15-20 cats. Customers will be able to pay $10 an hour to meet and play with the cats. But at the end of your time you can even leave with a new four-legged friend.
This will mark New Zealand’s first cat adoption cafe and is modeled off similar cafes in Japan and California. You’ll be able to hang out with the cats, play and brush them as well as enjoy a nice cup of coffee.
The creators behind Neko Ngeru are married couple Ken and Richelle Okada who have a lot of experience with adopting and fostering cats. After travelling to various places around the world they decided to settle in New Zealand less than a year ago to pursue this cat and coffee dream.
At the moment the cafe are still in their funding stages and you can buy exclusive merchandise from their website. The owners, Ken and Richelle, have also started a crowdfunding site to help raise funds.
