If you’ve always felt like regular yoga just wasn’t your thing, this may well just change your mind. The Rise Hot Yoga and Pilates studio in Parnell will be introducing hip hop yoga near the end of October.
Yes, you did hear that right, hip hop yoga. If you’re a fan of relaxation as well as some sick beats this class may just be all of your dreams coming true.
What actually is hip hop yoga?
As the name suggests, hip hop yoga is a combination of two quite different things – hip hop and yoga. It originated in the Bronx as a way to attract hip hop obsessed youth to get involved with the ancient practice of yoga. Since then it’s become a world wide trend.
The Rise studio will be launching their new hip hop yoga classes with two ticketed events on Saturday October 28 at 8:45am and 10:30am. To kick it all off there will be a live DJ set, Batchwell Kombucha on tap and breakfast. All mats and sweat towels will also be provided.
If you’re a yoga newbie never fear, Rise Hot Yoga and Pilates founder Alexandra Stafford says the class will cater to both beginner and experienced yogis.
“Hip Hop and Yoga is just a whole lot of awesomeness. The Rhythm of the music combined with a heart
thumping, fast moving flow makes for a pretty cool hour of power.”

The studio is heated to 27 – 30 degrees. With infrared heating panels that heat the body from the inside out, getting deeper into the tissue. A fresh air cooling system extracts extra humidity, so the studio
remains dry and comfortable whilst maintaining the benefits of a heated room.
So if you’re interested in popping and locking it check out the Rise studio website for tickets which are priced at $35 each. But be in quick as there are only 20 tickets available per class!
