2 of NZ’s Cities are placed in 2015’s Top 10 Friendliest Cities in the World

In the Condé Nast Traveller Magazine Reader Choice Awards survey, Auckland and Queenstown made it into the Top 10 Friendliest Cities in the World in 2015.

Auckland was placed 9th with the following caption:

Auckland’s “unbelievably friendly folk” were found to be some of the most “polite and accommodating” in the world. One reader was “invited by strangers to the Chinese Lantern Festival on a hill overlooking the city”; another local recommended taking “the ferry to the north shore Devonport suburb for the perfect combination of funky and shabby chic.” Overall, most agreed that there were “absolutely wonderful people everywhere!” Tied for Friendliest City in 2014.

Queenstown was placed 3rd:

This South Island city is “the birthplace of adventure tourism—50 ways to kill yourself every day!” said one reader. It’s also “loads of fun and has great people-watching.” “Very friendly locals genuinely enjoy interacting with tourists,” including “a helicopter pilot who landed us in six different places on our tour… including a glacier and his favorite ‘lunch spot,’ which couldn’t have been bigger than a picnic blanket.” With “so much to do,” and “a great bar scene at night,” “you can’t NOT have a good time in Queenstown.” It’s “a bucket list city, but you’ll need a bucket of money” to visit, warned one reader.
