It seems that wellness is a reoccurring theme in the healthsphere, instead of those one-week fad diets that only result in your weight fluctuating like a yoyo. But which diet plan is the best is a question that you’re probably dying to know. To satiate your curiosity, Kettle and Fire surveyed 2,570 people about the four of the main lifestyle diets: Paleo, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free.
The survey covers the following aspects:
- Which diets do men and women try the most? Past and present.
- Which diet plans do people actually stick with?
- How people perceive those who are on specific diets – admirable or annoying?
- Which diets are used by people in certain BMI ranges
- The reason for trying new diets
- Which diet helps people reach their health and fitness goals the most
In The Great Diet Debate, it was revealed that of those surveyed, women were more inclined to have made attempts all four diets. However, men had a slightly higher percentage of following the Paleo diet over the others.It seems that a large portion of the participants had tried being vegetarian but not following through long-term.
The findings show that most people will try a diet and continue to be on it for 1-2 months. However, for those wishing to make their new diet a lifestyle, the vegetarian diet seems to be ahead of the lead with 22.9% sticking with the diet for over 6 months. On the other hand, the gluten-free seems to be the one that people stick to the least.
It’s also interesting to observe the pattern of those on a Paleo diet. Many will drop off during the 3-4 month mark but it then surges from 5% to 13.4% at the 5-6 month mark.
