2016 was a great year in terms of fashion, reflecting the best of the ’90s and comfort over style. High heels had their time and their use, but it girls were rarely seen strutting the streets of New York in heels, rather, their feet were nestled in comfort in the form of sneakers.
It was hard to walk down the street without noticing every second person rocking the Adidas superstars, not surprisingly it was hard to get your hands on these bad boys.
Of course, it is no surprise that sneakers took home the crown of this years most shopped shoe.
Lyst reported that “over 53% of shoe purchases nationwide” in the US were sneakers, data I am almost certain would be similarly reflected here. Nike and Adidas took home the crown for most sold shoes, but Puma saw a “183% increase in popularity.” This leap is most likely in part thanks to celeb endorsements like Rihanna, Kylie Jenner and Cara Delevingne.
In fact, Lyst said the most viewed product were the Rihanna x Puma creepers.
White was definitely the in colour this season, from Puma to Adidas.
Rumour has it, next year we won’t have to change it up to much. The 2017 ‘it shoe’ is said to be blush sneakers.
