3 Recipes To Help You Take Your Porridge To The Next Level

Majority of our life we have been told the same important message, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” It became pretty annoying to be fair, broken record much? But despite the annoyance  we should thank all of those who preached it to us because now we are eating breakfast foods that give us great skin and using breakfast to fuel our weight lose goals.

The simplest breakfast, and thankfully the best for our skin, is without a doubt porridge. It took me a while to get on the porridge bandwagon, it has been about 2 months and I can finally say I enjoy my porridge for breakfast.

My memories of porridge used to be plagued with sloppy, cardboard-tasting bowls full of oats and not a lot else. Thankfully, porridge does not and should not be that boring.

1. Chia & Coconut

This has become a bit of a specialty of a few of us in the office, thought up by our health writer. We all hustle in the kitchen making our porridge, excited for great skin and a breakfast that will keep us full until about 11.30.  This is just a rough guideline for measurements, add little or more should you wish.

  • 1/3 – 1/2 C Oats
  • 1T Chia Seeds
  • 1T Shredded Coconut
  • 1t Coconut Sugar (more so just to taste)

Cook your oats, adding a little more liquid than normal because of the Chia Seeds. Top with Banana.

You can get super creative, adding in the following is delicious.
– Slithered almond
– Cacao powder

If you have just done a gym session or fancy some added protein, we have tried adding the vanilla Nutra Organics and it adds the perfect sweetness while helping you with your recover and repair, without adding in any nasties!

2.  Super youthful skin porridge

  • 1/3 – 1/2 C Oats
  • 2T Slithered almonds

Cook your oats and top with Greek Yoghurt and Blueberries. So many benefits for your skin in one breakfast!

3. Snickers Porridge

  • 1/3 – 1/2 C Oats
  • 1T Nut Butter
  • 1/2T  Cacao Powder
  • 1t Coconut Sugar (dependent how sweet your nut butter is)
  • 1T Cacao Nibs

Naughty and nice, this porridge will satisfy your morning’s sweet tooth!
