This Shortland Street Star Is Being Called The Kiwi Tom Cruise

Whether you love or hate the Kiwi hospital drama, Shortland street has produced some stars that have gone on for greatness. Martin Henderson moved from Ferndale to Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital to be the new McHotty and Karl Urban became a Dr in Star Trek.

Now former Shortland Street star KJ Apa has been compared to the your mums dream boat actor – Tom Cruise.

Apa was out at Comic Con for his first public appearance with his new American series, Riverdal which is based on the characters by Archie Comics.

The 19-year-old plays comic book icon Archie in The CW series. He was recently at Comic-Con where he was joined by his onscreen dad, 90210’s Luke Perry.

When asked about Apa, the Herald On Sunday reported that Perry said, “oh that boy wonder?” when he was asked about working with KJ. “That’s what Tom Cruise wishes he looked like as a young man.”

What do you think? The next Mission Impossible star?
