Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc Awatere Valley, Marlborough 2016
Yealands Seaview Vineyard is the largest single Estate Vineyard in New Zealand. It is situated in the Awatere valley of Marlborough region with spectacular sea views over Clifford Bay. The weather there is extremely dry and exposed to a constant sea breeze, this makes the grapes a lot smaller and slower ripening.
Thick skins means that the wines they produce have incredible flavours but quite different to the wines coming out of the Wairau Valley – highly aromatic fruit flavours of blackcurrant leaf and citrus blossom with a vibrant palate that is pure with an elegant mineral finish.
With such a vast vineyard, they have been able to blend the best grapes from four different blocks from one end to the other delivering an exceptional Sauvignon Blanc with unique characteristics.
This wine shows pure fruit flavours of guava, blackcurrant leaf, fresh herbs, layered with bright citrus notes. The palate is textured and elegant, with the distinctive mineral finish that Yealands Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is renowned for.
Enjoy this wine as an aperitif, or with freshly shucked oysters, prawns, green lip mussels and clams. Also matches brilliantly with a goats cheese salad.
