Who needs chocolate Easter Eggs when you have a chocolate Benedict Cumberbatch?
In Britain they take their national TV polls seriously. So seriously in fact that they have created a giant chocolate sculpture out of this year’s “Britain’s Dishiest TV Drama Actor” Benedict Cumberbatch. Seems logical.
For the privilege of being recreated in chocolate the Sherlock star won out over other potential dishiests including David Tennant, rumoured potential James Bond Idris Elba and Aidan Turner.
A crew of eight worked on the construction of Cumberbatch’s confectionery alter ego; a process which took over 250 hours and involved the use of 500 chocolate bars of Belgian milk chocolate.
“You can’t rush perfection. Benedict has such a distinctive look that it was a challenge but a pleasure, to recreate him in chocolate. A secret combination of methods ensured we got a great likeness – we’re sure his legions of fans will approve!”
Lead scultpor Tim Simpson suggested.
The life-size chocolate was unveiled to those legions of fans at the launch of Drama on UKTV’s on demand service uktvplay.co.uk.
Adrian Wills, General Manager of Drama at UK TV did however raise some concerns over the safety of the statue leading into the heavy chocolate
“With Drama launching on UKTV Play this Easter, it was the perfect opportunity to pay homage to the fantastic talent we have on the channel, including of course, Benedict Cumberbatch. Hopefully he’ll make it through Easter weekend in one piece.”
