I have included this one in my selection because it is one of my favourite Hawke’s bay Chardonnays. I reviewed this back in May last year and I also awarded it 5 stars. It is always good to go back and try these again, and can only say that this has improved in that time with cellaring.

From an excellent vintage with grapes hand-picked and not hurried for optimum ripeness, this Chardonnay has the full body that you would expect from a Gimblett Gravels Hawkes Bay Chardonnay.

With striking texture and balance, it bursts with tropical peach and cashew notes. The influence of wild yeast character is complemented with a judicious seasoning of toasty oak, and a creamy texture. We were promised this wine would continue to evolve and delight with cellaring and we were not disappointed.
Perfect match for chicken, veal or rabbit ragout or creamy pasta dishes with lemon or garlic.
